Who is Eligible?
All Retail, Hospitality and Leisure Businesses in England
What is it?
Businesses in the above sector don’t have to pay this year’s Business Rates
Tell me more…
As long as you operate within the above sectors, you are entitled to this relief. There is no size restriction, so SMEs as well as larger operators can both claim.
Typical examples are: shops*, restaurants, cafes, bars, clubs, cinemas, live music venues, hotels, guest & boarding premises and self-catering accommodation
*Shops -some examples: florists, bakers, butchers, grocers, greengrocers, jewellers, stationers, off licences, chemists, newsagents, hardware stores, supermarkets, etc), Charity shops, Opticians, Post offices, Furnishing shops/ display rooms (such as: carpet shops, double glazing, garage doors), Car/caravan show rooms, Second-hand car lots, Markets, Petrol stations, Garden centres, Art galleries (where art is for sale/hire)
How do I do this?
Rate payers don’t need to do anything; Councils will contact eligible businesses with the relief
TIP:
This is a Grant – not a Loan. As Businesses no longer have to pay the 2020/21 Business Rates, this is further “free cash” that they can use for survival during these exceptional times.
